My name is Seine Snippe have been born on November 24th 1973 in a Dutch village called Dedemsvaart. At the age of 1.5 the doctors discovered spasm which affected only the legs. My first handcycle was an attachable one. It was a tracker 24" ATB. In the end of 1998 it was delivered. The use was mostly for ADL purposes. After a year I made a few pleasure rides. At that moment I was asked to do a ride of 90 km and it went well. After that I got the tatse and went more often by myself. In the year 2000 I was been asked for a cycle holiday. At that vacation I was been recommended to use a solid frame handcycle. After 9 months saving up money I bought my first Varna speedbike. I like a little experimenting so I made with electronic wireless gears. With this bike I started endurance trainings with the purpose to participate in races and a better condition. In august 2001 I participate in my first race. Sadly there where just 6 participants and very easy I became third. Later that year a participated in the marathon of Cologne. In this race I became twelfth with the most participants behind me. With the latest result I was sure. I wanted to be participant in the E.H.C. (European handcycle circuit) and I should perform nicely in the N.H.C. (National Handcycle circuit). Reports will be available behind the corresponding buttons. Complete results can be found on the site www.handbiken.nl Early in the year 2002 Ivan van Brugge went to me and asked me if I like to enjoy as a member of the A.P.B. Squad. They had heard maybe I was interested. On my turn I felt honored and I accepted it. In the beginning it was great, but later that season it became clear I did not fit well in the team. I decided to drive till the end that season for the team. That was the duty to the A.P.B. Squad by my own thoughts In the end 2002 I was more sure and I leaved the A.P.B. Squad. It was not what I had expected. This does not mean I will never enjoy a team again, but I will not enjoy unthinking any team again. After all I want to thank the A.P.B. Squad for sharing the experiences with me. After my last race of 2002 I decided to change my handcycle significant. Put the seat straighter up and bullhorncranks. Further I bought another handcycle which would be the racing handcycle. In the season 2003 I started with two hardly identic handcycles. One for training and one for races. The season 2003 is the first season I drove at my own. I liked it well. My most loyal fans (my parents) as companions and there it go. The only negative of that season was a crash at Rosenau and the need to quit the race after it in Woensdrecht. Further it didn't go bad at all. The changes on the handcycle need time to get used on it, but in the end of the season I'm used to it. This season I came to a final EHC ranking of 30 and a final NHC ranking of 5. At the last race of 2003 Antienus Ebeltjes and Freek Strijker asked me if I like to join their trainings. After a period of rest I decided to have a look and join one training. In spite of the inhuman early time I decide to join the club and I become a member of "GSC Emmen". In the year 2004 the increasing of the participants stagnates. Partly due to the paralympics in athen and another concurrent competition called HCT which contains the great city marathons in Germany. In the EHC I grew further and with an 19th in Kirchboitzen and 12th in Vienna I raced two time to a top 20 place. In the final ranking I became 19th which satisfies me for that moment. The NHC is another story. The number of participants increases very strong in 2004. The "newbe" group contains a bunch of riders who did not race earlier the full competition. The national competition became a lot harder. In spite of a good progression in speed the ranking of me didn't came higher as a poor 11th place. Due to this problem I saw something had to be happen. Almost all competitors do use a kneeseat handcycle. In the end of season 2004 I got such a handcycle. First to try a few months. This went very well and after those few months the handcycle became my own. I got a wheeler too at that moment. In spite of the fact handcycling is my core business I want to experiment with this which turn out surprisingly well. Maybe a possibility to do a triathlon ever in the future. At moment I am writing this I am preparing for the season 2005. The expectations are tense how it will work in competition with the new kneeseat handcycle. The first race will happen on Saturday March 19 in Wapenveld and the first big one a week later in Rosenau (france) at March 26. Besides handcycling I am doing weight training and swimming as extra supporting traing for handcycling. Before handcycling equestrian was my most important sport. In this I became Dutch champion twice and I participated in the World championships in 1991 in Denmark. I was nominated for participation in the paralympics of 1996 in Atlanta. About equestrian you can read something at my separate equestrian site , it's only in Dutch. If you don't know Dutch you always can have a look at the pictures. Due to my experiences I became a committee member of Stars, a foundation who makes few sports and recreation possible for disabled people and children with physical problems. We also can can give people addresses where they can participate in a sport or activity which we don't have in our own package.
For education I am a visual mathematic. Languages means for
me problems. Due to my language problems I started lower general secondary
education. After that I started intermediate technical school where I followed
an education in electronics. When I was ready with that I went to the technical
college where I studied computer science. Then I have tried for 9 months to get
a job, but al I got was no job. Because I want more than only my sports I Besides all the sports I have played guitar in a metal band name Destilated. The website is only in Dutch but contains a few nice pictures. In the music I am not very active at the moment because of limits of time. The only thing I do in the winter is playing in a very extreme grindcore project. It's great to do, but it sucks to hear. |
